Course Selection Process
2024/2025 SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUEST
REQUESTS are not guaranteed. Not all requests are possible due to classes being full and limited availability. If your change is granted it will appear on your schedule.
Schedule changes are permitted for the following reasons:
- If a student is in the wrong level of a course
- If a senior needs a course to graduate
- If a student is not enrolled in an English class
- If a student is enrolled in a repeated course that they have received credit for taking (unless Leadership, weightlifting, choir, jazz band)
- If a student wants to be a TA for the classroom (only per teacher approval in writing to Ms. Hanna, Ms. Leeb, Ms. Starets or Ms. Gatcke)
- If a student needs to be placed in a Learning Center for credit recovery
Schedule changes will NOT be permitted for the following reasons:
- If a student asks for a particular teacher
- If a student wants to swap periods
- If a student asks to change a course they did not request. When students registered for classes, the form stated: You are not guaranteed your class preferences. Please be mindful that you may be placed in a class that you did not select. We have all copies of these forms in the office.
- Dropping an AP/Honors course (see signed agreement)
Please Note
- Schedule change requests are ONLY done through the QR code, not verbally in office, or through email
- No schedule changes will be granted after Aug 20, 2024 at 3:00pm, NO EXCEPTIONS
- If a schedule is changed you will see a new schedule on IC, do not email the admin
- The Admin team are the ONLY people on campus that are permitted to change schedules

Course Sequencing
Outside Courses
San José Unified only accepts credits for classes taken outside of the district if it meets specific criteria. Classes must be high school level courses listed on the University of California A-G Course List or Community College courses listed on assist.org as UC/CSU transferable to be approved.
Contact your counselor to submit outside credit for approval to be recorded on your high school transcript. We do not accept online Visual & Performing Arts, Physical Education, or Science courses.
Students may take outside courses for remediation or acceleration purposes. Our staff do not monitor grades or provide materials for outside coursework. Students are responsible for completing work on time and submitting their final grades to the counselor.

Academic Honesty Policy
Breaking the Academic Honesty policy is defined as any act in which a student obtains or provides help on an assignment that is to be completed solely by the student. This can be done in such ways as plagiarizing, copying, using unauthorized devices or any other act that is deemed to be dishonest.
Consequences
1st offense
- Zero on the assignment
- Parent Contact
- Filing of the Behavior Referral form and copy of evidence with AP of Discipline
2nd offense
- Zero on the assignment
- Meeting with the parent, student, teacher and administrator
- Filing of the Behavior Referral form and copy of evidence with AP of Discipline
- Detention or Mandatory Service
3rd offense
- Zero on the Assignment
- Meeting with the parent, student, teacher and administrator
- Filing of the Behavior Referral form and copy of evidence with AP of Discipline
- Subject to consequences including but not limited to: in house suspension, community service, administrative disciplinary action.
Severe Clause
Circumstances of a severe nature may occur which would cause the teacher/administrator to bypass steps 1 and 2.
